1 The elder to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I alone, but also everyone that has come to a knowledge of the truth;
2 By means of the truth that is living within us and will be with us into eternity.
3 Grace be with you, mercy, [and] peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and [agape] love.

4 I was very pleased to find some of your children walking in truth, just as we were commanded by the Father.
5 And now I beg you, lady, not as if I am writing a new commandment to you, but simply what we had from the beginning, that we should love one another.
6 And this is [agape] true love, that we should be walking in obedience to His commandments. Just like you heard from the beginning, this is the commandment that you should be living by.

7 For many imposters have come into the world, who are not acknowledging the appearing of Jesus Christ in bodily form. This kind of person is an imposter and antichrist.
8 Look out that you do not throw away what we worked for, but that you receive payment in full.
9 Everyone who misses it, and does not remain in the teachings of Christ, does not have God. The one who continues in the teachings of Christ, he has both the Father and the Son.
10 If anyone comes to you, and does not embrace this teaching, do not let him into [your] home or condone his actions:
11 For the one who condones what he does is party to his dirty work.
12 Although I have many things to write to you, I do not want to do it using paper and ink: but I am hoping to come to you, to speak with you face to face, so that we can both be fully satisfied.
13 The children of your chosen sister send their greetings. So be it.
