Bible Text  (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]

Moreover, brothers, we want to make you aware of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;
How that in a great trial [dokimazo] of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded to the riches of their liberality.
- DOKIMAZO - TEST
For I bear record that according to their ability, yes, and beyond [their] ability [they were] willing by themselves;
Petitioning us with much appeal that we would receive the gift, and [take upon us] the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.
And [they did this], not as we expected, but first they gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us through the will of God.
So much so that we wanted Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also complete in you the same grace also.
Therefore, as you abound in every [thing, in] faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and [in] all diligence, and [in] your [agape] love to us, [see] that you abound in this grace also.
- AGAPE - DIVINE LOVE
I do not speak through commandment, but because of the willingness of others, and to prove [dokimazo] the sincerity of your [agape] love.
- AGAPE - DIVINE LOVE - DOKIMAZO - TEST
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was wealthy, yet especially for you he became poor, so that you through his poverty might be made wealthy.
And in this I give [my] advice: for this is beneficial for you, who have begun before, not only to do, but also to be keen to do a year ago [already].
Now therefore carry it out; that since [there was] an inclination to do so, so [there may be] a carrying out also out of what you have.
For if there is first a willing mind, [it is] accepted according to what a man has, [and] not according to what he does not have.
For I do not [mean] that other men should be eased, and you burdened:
But by an equality, [that] now at this [kairos] time your abundance [may be a supply] for their lack, that their abundance also may be [a supply] for your lack: that there may be equilibrium:
- KAIROS - TIME
As it is written, He that [had gathered] much had nothing over; and he that [had gathered] little had no lack.
But thanks [be] to God, who put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.
For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more earnestly desirous, he went to you of his own accord.
And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise [is] in the gospel throughout all the churches;
And not [that] only, but who was also chosen by the churches to travel with us with this gift, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and [declaration of] your ready mind:
Avoiding this, that no man should discredit us for this abundance which is administered by us:
Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved [dokimazo] diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which [I have] in you.
- DOKIMAZO - TEST
And if [anyone enquires] of Titus, [he is] my partner and co-worker concerning you: or [if] our brothers [are enquired of, they are] the messengers of the churches, [and] the glory of Christ.
Therefore you show to them, and before the churches, the proof of your [agape] love, and of our boasting on your behalf.
