Bible Text  (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]  [Read Bible Only]

1 And as he was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, Master, just look at the quality of these stones and buildings!
2 Jesus responded by saying to him, Take a good look at these great buildings. Not a single stone will be left on top of another that will not be torn down.
3 While he was sitting on top of the mount of Olives looking out over the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately,
4 Tell us, when will these things take place? and what will be the sign that all of these things are coming to an end?
5 So Jesus, answering them, started to say, Be careful that nobody deceives you:
6 For many will come using my name, saying, I am The One and will lead many astray.
7 And when you hear of wars and rumours of wars, do not panic: for these things need to take place; but it is not the end yet.
8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: there will be earthquakes in many different places, and there will be lack of food and upheaval: these are just the first contractions in the birth process.
9 But take heed to yourselves: for they will deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues you will be beaten: and you will be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
Which Gospel was Jesus referring to? He had not yet paid the price for the sins of all humanity, yet He was already proclaiming a Gospel - the Gospel of the Kingdom
- GOSPEL

11 But when they will lead [you], and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what you will speak, neither do you premeditate: but whatever will be given you in that hour, that speak: for it is not you that speak, but the Holy Spirit.
12 Now the brother will betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children will rise up against [their] parents, and will cause them to be put to death.
13 And you will be hated by all [people] for my name's sake: but he that will endure to the end, the same will be saved.
There is a blessing for endurance. It leads to an experience of the blessings of salvation
- ENDURANCE

14 But when you will see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that reads understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
Jesus links Daniel's prophecy with the end times.

15 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter [therein], to take any thing out of his house:
16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.
17 But woe to them that are pregnant, and to those who are breastfeeding in those days!
18 And pray you that your flight be not in the winter.
19 For [in] those days will be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created to this time, neither will be.
- TRIBULATION
20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he has chosen, he has shortened the days.
- ELECTION
21 And then if anyone says to you, Look, here [is] Christ; or, look, [He is] there; do not believe [them] :
22 For false Christs and false prophets will rise, and will show signs and wonders, to seduce, if [it were] possible, even the elect.
- FALSE PROPHET
23 But take heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.
24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her light,
25 And the stars of heaven will fall, and the [dynamic] powers that are in heaven will be shaken.
26 And then will they see the Son of man coming in clouds with great [dynamic] power and glory.
- SECOND COMING
27 And then will he send his angels, and will gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.
He will bring together both living and dead believers
- RAPTURE

28 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near:
29 So you in like manner, when you will see these things come to pass, know that it is near, [even] at the doors.
30 Truly I say to you, that this generation will not pass, till all these things be done.
Everything will happen within one generation - period of 20-30 years

31 Heaven and earth will pass away: but my words will not pass away.
Words are eternal - their effects last forever, especially the Word of God
- LOGOS-WORD

32 But of that day and [that] hour knows no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
33 Take you heed, watch and pray: for you know not when the [kairos] time is.
- KAIROS - TIME
34 [For the Son of man is] as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 Watch you therefore: for you know not when the master of the house comes, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 And what I say to you I say to all, Watch. - WATCH
