early in his ministry.
Jesus heals a deaf and mute man with
his spittle.
• Jesus heals a blind man who reports that
people look like trees; Jesus prays for
him again.
Then he called the crowd to him along with his
disciples and said: "Whoever wants to be my disciple
must deny themselves and take up their cross and
follow me." Mark 8:34
Important points about the Book:
• John Mark is thought first to be a friend of Apostle Peter, but then he traveled with Apostle Paul and his
assistant Barnabas on Paul's first missionary journey around Asia Minor. The book is loaded with
miracles. Mark's point was to show how powerful, kind, and merciful God is.
The Gospel of Mark does not mention the birth or childhood of Jesus, but starts with the ministry of
John the Baptist.
• Whereas Matthew presents Jesus as King, Mark presents him as a humble servant of man. That is why
the verse above from Mark 10 is so beloved.
