Bible Text  (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]

For, behold, the Lord, the LORD [Yahweh] of hosts, does take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,
The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
The captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counselor, and the cunning craftsman, and the eloquent orator.
And I will give children [to be] their princes, and babes will rule over them.
And the people will be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbor: the child will behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honorable.
When a man will take hold of his brother of the house of his father, [saying], You have clothing, be you our ruler, and [let] this ruin [be] under your hand:
In that day will he swear, saying, I will not be a healer; for in my house [is] neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings [are] against the LORD [Yahweh], to provoke the eyes of his glory.
The show of their countenance does witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide [it] not. Woe to their soul! for they have rewarded evil to themselves.
Say you to the righteous, that [it will be] well [with him]: for they will eat the fruit of their doings.
- PROVISION
Woe to the wicked! [it will be] ill [with him]: for the reward of his hands will be given him.
As for my people, children put pressure on them, and women dominate them. O my people, your leaders are leading you astray and destroying your whole way of life.
The LORD [Yahweh] stands up to plead, and stands to judge the people.
The LORD [Yahweh] will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes of it: for you have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor [is] in your houses.
What mean you [that] you beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? says the Lord GOD of hosts.
Moreover the LORD [Yahweh] says, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing [as] they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD [Yahweh] will discover their secret parts.
In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of [their] tinkling ornaments [about their feet], and [their] cauls, and [their] round tires like the moon,
The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
The rings, and nose jewels,
The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
And it will come to pass, [that] instead of sweet smell there will be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; [and] burning instead of beauty.
Your men will fall by the sword, and your mighty in the war.
And her gates will lament and mourn; and she [being] desolate will sit upon the ground.
