Bible Text  (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]  [Read Bible Only]

1 Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
- FEAR
2 Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:
- CURSES - HIDDEN
3 Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, [and] bend [their bows to shoot] their arrows, [even] bitter words:
The greatest weapon the enemy can use against us is negative words from other people. That is what David was referring to in this passage:

Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; and every tongue [that] will rise against you in judgment you will condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD [Yahweh], and their righteousness [is] of me, says the LORD [Yahweh]. [GBMV]
- CURSES - WORDS

4 That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
5 They encourage themselves [in] an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who will see them?
6 They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward [thought] of every one [of them], and the heart, [is] deep.
7 But God will shoot at them [with] an arrow; suddenly will they be wounded.
8 So they will make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them will flee away.
We can send their curses back at them, so that they are affected instead of us.
- CURSES - SENDING BACK

9 And all men will fear, and will declare the work of God; for they will wisely consider of his doing.
10 The righteous will be glad in the LORD [Yahweh], and will trust in him; and all the upright in heart will glory.
