Bible Text (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]  [Read Bible Only]
O God, you [are] my God; early I will seek you: my soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land, where there is no water;
David shows here some keys to experiencing the power of God. We should desire His presence as strongly as our body desires water when thirsty. Paul tells us to earnestly desire spiritual gifts in the following passage:
Corinthians 14:1 Pursue [agape] love, and passionately desire spiritual [gifts], but mostly that you may prophesy. [GBMV]

To see your power and your glory, so [as] I have seen you in the sanctuary.
Because your lovingkindness [is] better than life, my lips will praise you.
Thus I will bless you while I live: I will lift up my hands in your name.
My soul will be satisfied as [with] marrow and fatness; and my mouth will praise [you] with joyful lips:
When I remember you upon my bed, [and] meditate on you in the [night] watches.
Because you have been my help, therefore in the shadow of your wings I will rejoice.
My soul follows hard after you: your right hand upholds me.
But those [that] seek my soul, to destroy [it], will go into the lower parts of the earth.
They will fall by the sword: they will be a portion for foxes.
But the king will rejoice in God; every one that swears by him will glory: but the mouth of those that speak lies will be stopped.
