Bible Text  (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]

My brothers, do not adhere to the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, [the Lord] of glory, by showing favoritism.
For if there comes to your meeting a man with a gold ring, in fine clothes, and there comes in also a poor man in ugly clothes;
And you favor him that wears the fancy clothing, and say to him, You sit here in a good place; and say to the poor, You stand there, or sit here under my footstool:
Are you not then showing partiality amongst yourselves, and have become judges with evil thoughts?
Listen, my beloved brothers, Has God not chosen the poor of this world [that are] rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those that love him?
But you have despised the poor. Do not rich men put pressure on you, and drag you in front of the courtrooms?
Do they not speak evil of that worthy name by the which you are called?
If you fulfil the ruling law according to the scripture, You will love your neighbor as yourself, then you are doing well:
But if you show favoritism, you are sinning, and are shown by the law to be law breakers.
For whoever will observe the whole law, and yet offend in one [point], he is guilty of all.
For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if you commit no adultery, yet if you kill, you have become a violator of the law.
You should speak, and act, like those that will be judged by the law of freedom.
For he will pass judgement without mercy, [on he] who has shown no mercy; and mercy triumphs over judgement.
What [does it] benefit [you], my brothers, [even] though a man says he has faith, and he does not have deeds? can faith save him?
If a brother or sister is naked, and in need of daily food,
And one of you says to them, Go in peace, [may you] be warmed and filled; and yet you do not give them those things that their body needs; what benefit [is it]?
Even so faith, if it does not have deeds, is dead, being alone.
Yes, a man might say, You have faith, and I have deeds: show me your faith without your actions, and I will show you my faith through my actions.
You believe that there is one God; you are doing well: the demons also believe [this], and they tremble.
But do you realise, O foolish man, that faith without action is dead?
Was Abraham our father not proved right through [his] actions, when he had offered Isaac his son on the altar?
Do you see how faith co-operated with his actions, and by action faith was made complete?
And the scripture was fulfilled which said, Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
You see then how that through [his] actions a man is proved right, and not through faith only.
In the same way also was Rahab the harlot not proved right through [her] actions, when she had received the messengers, and had sent [them] out another way?
For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without [corresponding] action is dead also.
