Old Testament: 39 Books
New Testament: 27 20 ks
CLAIMS TO FAME: Written by the half-brother of Jesus. Known as the "Proverbs of the
New Testament."
MOST FAMOUS VERSES:
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will
be given to you. James 1:5
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if people claim to have faith but have no deeds? Can such faith
save them? James 2:14
Important points about the Book:
James was not a follower of Jesus during the Savior's time on earth. In fact, Mark 3:21 has the
half-brothers of Jesus during his early ministry thinking Jesus was "out of his mind."
James finally became a believer upon seeing Jesus alive and well after the crucifixion. He
became one of the leaders of the church at Jerusalem.
This book is overflowing with wisdom and is often thought to be among the first books that
Christians read after the Gospel of John.
