And these miraculous signs will accompany those who believed [were entrusted with faith]. In my name, they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;

And there appeared to them separated tongues looking like fire and settling on each one of them.

For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

And when Paul had laid [his] hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied.

To another the performing of miracles; to another prophecy; to another distinguishing of spirits; to another [different] kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

And God fixed in place in the church, in the highest rank apostles, second in place prophets, third in place teachers, then miracles, next gifts of healings, helpers, directors, and a variety of different tongues.

Not everyone has the gifts of healing. Not everyone speaks in tongues. Not everyone interprets

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and do not have [agape] love, I have become [like] a noisy brass [instrument], or a clanging cymbal.

[Agape] love never loses its efficiency: but if [there are] prophecies, they will come to an end; if [there are] tongues, they will cease; if [there is] knowledge, it will vanish away.

Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what benefit will I be to you, unless I speak to you either through revelation, or through knowledge, or through prophesying, or through teaching?
