Let the LORD [Yahweh], the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,
Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD [Yahweh] be not as sheep which have no shepherd.
And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling [was] in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.
And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD [Yahweh] said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.
The LORD [Yahweh] [is] my shepherd; I will never be in need.
A description of how the Pastoral Ministry should function.
The words of the wise [are] as goads, and as nails fastened [by] the masters of assemblies, [which] are given from one shepherd.
He will feed his flock like a shepherd: he will gather the lambs with his arm, and carry [them] in his bosom, [and] will gently lead those that are with young.
That says of Cyrus, [He is] my shepherd, and will perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, You will be built; and to the temple, Your foundation will be laid.
Yes, [they are] greedy dogs [which] can never have enough, and they [are] shepherds [that] cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.
The priests said not, Where [is] the LORD [Yahweh]? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after [things that] do not profit.
And I will give you pastors according to my heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.
For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD [Yahweh]: therefore they will not prosper, and all their flocks will be scattered.
Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.
As for me, I have not hastened from [being] a pastor to follow you: neither have I desired the woeful day; you know: that which came out of my lips was [right] before you.
The wind will eat up all your pastors, and your lovers will go into captivity: surely then will you be ashamed and confounded for all your wickedness.
Woe be to the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! says the LORD [Yahweh].
Therefore thus says the LORD [Yahweh] God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; You have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, says the LORD [Yahweh].
And I will set up shepherds over them which will feed them: and they will fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither will they be lacking, says the LORD [Yahweh].
Hear the word of the LORD [Yahweh], O you nations, and declare [it] in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd [doth] his flock.
My people has been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away [on] the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.
And the LORD [Yahweh] said to me, Take to you yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd.
For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, [which] will not visit those that be cut off, neither will seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that stands still: but he will eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces.
Woe to the idol shepherd that leaves the flock! the sword [will be] upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm will be clean dried up, and his right eye will be utterly darkened.
But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were weak, and were scattered everywhere, like sheep having no shepherd.
And before him will be gathered all nations: and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides [his] sheep from the goats:
And Jesus, when he came out, saw many people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
And there were in the same country shepherds remaining in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.
But he that enters in through the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd gives his [psuche] life for the sheep.
But he that is a hired hand, and not the shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees: and the wolf catches them, and scatters the sheep.
I am the good shepherd, and [intimately] know my [sheep], and am known [intimately] by my [sheep].
Our relationship with Jesus is as intimate as the sexual union
Pay attention therefore to yourselves, and to everyone in the flock, over which the Holy Spirit has placed you as overseers, to pastor the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood.
Pastors must first take care of their own spiritual life before trying to shepherd God’s sheep,
And He Himself gave some apostles, and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers;
Now the God of peace, that brought our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, back again from the dead, through the blood of the eternal covenant,
For you were as sheep going astray; but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
And when the chief Shepherd will appear, you will receive a crown of glory that does not fade away.
