MOST FAMOUS VERSES:
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that
hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us...
Hebrews 12:1
Important points about the Book:
The author of Hebrews tried very hard to paint an image of Jesus as divine.
According to Hebrews, Jesus has a role that is higher than the angels. He has created a clear
path to the throne room of God. He is a priest who intercedes to us before the Father. He is
the only path to salvation. He was a sacrifice for the sinfulness of mankind. All of these ideas
are put forth in Hebrews.
The book was written around the time when the evil leader Nero was feeding Christians to the
lions and other disturbing things. Thus it was a great letter of hope and help for people
considering giving up the faith.
