Important Points about the Book:
• Much of the material in to Luke's gospel involves Jesus' dealings with individuals. Many are not wealthy
or part of the acceptable society of their day. They include many sinners. Hence, Luke is considered a
gospel of extremely good news for the common man. This is why stories show up in Luke such as the
Good Samaritan (who helps the injured man while religious leaders pass right by him). The
conversations between the robbers on the cross with Jesus show the Lord's love for those who have
committed crimes.
While Matthew attempts to prove Christ's kingship, Luke shows him as the one who offers salvation to
all humanity-Jew and Gentile alike.
