Important Points about the Book:
The Book of Ezekiel begins before the Babylonian invasion and exile. Ezekiel prophesies about it in the early chapters of the book.
His warnings become so extreme: he even predicts that people will resort to cannibalism of loved ones in order to find food if
people didn't turn away from their horrific actions. But the people refused to listen.
Ezekiel then lived among the Jewish exiles in Babylon. He lived in a riverside community south of Babylon called Tel Aviv where
over 10,000 exiled Jews had been taken. He prophesied there for around 22 years.
Ezekiel gave his people hope. But he also prophesied about the end of times, and those prophesies included Israel becoming a
nation again after years of wandering the earth. That came true in 1948. It was prophesied by Ezekiel after God gave him a vision
of mountains of dry bones coming back together and gathering flesh on their bones. Because that took place in Ezekiel 37, many
Bible scholars are carefully watching Ezekiel's final chapters, 38-40 to see what details emerge in our world that will fit those
prophecies.
