Bible Text  (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, encourage you that you live your life in a way that suits the calling to which you were invited,
With every kind of humility and meekness, with patience, sustaining one another in [agape] love;
- AGAPE - DIVINE LOVE
Doing your best to preserve the unity of spirit, being bound together in peace.
[There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling;
- HOPE
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all.
But to every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Therefore he says, When he ascended up on high, he captured those who were in captivity and gave gifts to humanity.
(Now if he ascended, that means he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
The one descending is also the same one that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
And He Himself gave some apostles, and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers;
- PASTORS
For the equipping of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ:
Till we all arrive at unanimous agreement concerning the faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the level of maturity of the complete Christ:
That we should no longer be children, tossed about and driven with every wind of doctrine, by the subtle deception of men which is designed to lead you astray;
- WIND OF GOD
But speaking the truth in [agape] love, may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, [namely] Christ:
- AGAPE - DIVINE LOVE
From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body to the edifying of itself in [agape] love.
- AGAPE - DIVINE LOVE
This is what I maintain therefore, and insist on in the Lord, that you no longer continue to live in the same way that other Gentiles live, in the depravity of their mind [nous],
Having their mental understanding [dianoia] darkened, being cut off from the [zoe] life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart:
Who having lost all spiritual sensitivity have given themselves over to unbridled lust, to carry out all kinds of immorality in the greedy desire to have more things.
But you did not learn Christ like this;
If you have indeed listened to him, and have been taught by him, since the truth is to be found in Jesus:
That you should have put aside being controlled by your old lifestyle; the old human frailty that is being corrupted under the influence of deceptive evil cravings;
And you are to be continually rejuvenated spiritually in your mind [nous];
And that you should have put on the new person, who under the influence of God was created in righteousness and true holiness.
Therefore having put away lying, everyone should be speaking the truth with one another: because we are fellow bodily members belonging to each other.
Be in a state of anger, but do not sin: do not let the sun set on your anger:
And do not give the devil a foothold either.
Someone who is stealing should stop stealing: but rather he should be working hard, earning good things through carrying out his own job or business, so that he may have something to give to those that are in need.
Let no rotten language come out your mouth, but what is beneficial in being used for the purpose of building up, so that it can impart grace to the hearers.
And do not grieve the holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed until the day of redemption.
- SPIRIT OF GOD
Let all bitterness, and explosive anger [thumos], and seething anger [orge], and violent argument, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice:
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.
