Bible Text (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]  [Read Bible Only]
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born from God: and every one that loves the originator also loves the one that was birthed by him.
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
For this is the [agape] love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, [even] our faith.
We overcome the world using what God birthed into us. The main force is love, but it also includes faith and hope.
Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
This is he that came by water and blood, [even] Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit: and these three are one.

And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he has testified of his Son.
He that believes on the Son of God has the witness in himself: he that believes not God has made him a liar; because he believes not the record that God gave of his Son.
A believer has an inner assurance that they belong to Him. The resident Holy Spirit reveals God’s presence.
And this is the record, that God has given to us eternal [zoe] life, and this [zoe] life is in his Son.
He that has the Son has [zoe] life; [and] he that has not the Son of God does not have [zoe] life.
Eternal life is a present possession not a future experience.
These things I have written to you that believe in the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal [zoe] life, and that you may believe in the name of the Son of God.
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us:
And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
If any man see his brother sin a sin [that is] not tending to death, he will ask, and he will give him [zoe] life for those that do not sin to death. There is a sin to death: I do not say that he will pray for it.
All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not to death.
We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he that is begotten of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.
[And] we know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness.
And we know that the Son of God is continually present, having given us an understanding [dianoia], that we may continually know He who is true, and we are continually in He who is true, [specifically] in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the real God, and eternal [zoe] life.
Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
