Bible Text  (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]

Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ:
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the full knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
Because his power [dunamis] as God, has already given to us everything required for the ultimate life [zoe] and a godly lifestyle, through the experimental knowledge of the One that called us, for the purpose of magnificence and excellence:
Whereby are given to us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
That is why you should make every effort to supplement your faith with goodness; and goodness with knowledge;
And knowledge with self control; and self control with endurance; and endurance with godliness;
- ENDURANCE
And godliness with brotherly kindness; and brotherly kindness with [agape] love.
- AGAPE - DIVINE LOVE
For if these things are continually in you, and exist in abundance, they put you in a position where you will not be lazy or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
Therefore instead, brothers, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if you do these things, you will never [double negative] fall:
For so an entrance will be ministered to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Therefore I will not be negligent to always remind you of these things, though you have already come to know [them], and are established in the truth that is currently available (present truth).
Yes, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting [you] in remembrance;
Knowing that shortly I must put off [this] my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has showed me.
Moreover I will endeavour that you may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his magnificence.
For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
We have also the established word of the prophets; to which you would do well to pay close attention, just like a light shining in a dark place, until the day breaks, and the morning star arises in your hearts:
Knowing this first, that no prophecy written down as scripture exists for selfish personal interpretation.
For the prophecy was not brought out in times past through human choice or desire: but holy men of God spoke [as they were] led under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
