Bible Text (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]
Finally, brothers and sisters, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may make rapid progress, and be given honor, even as [it is] with you:
And that we may be delivered from out of place and wicked people: for not everyone has faith.
But the Lord is faithful, who will set you in place and protect [you] from The Evil One.
And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are both doing and will continue to do the things we command you.
And the Lord direct your hearts into the [agape] love of God, and into the endurance of Christ.

Now we command you, brother and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you draw back from every brother or sister that goes their own way, and does not keep to the tradition that they received from us.

For you yourselves know how you should be imitating us: for we did not behave ourselves in an unstructured way among you;
Neither did we eat anyone's food for free; but worked with difficulty and stress night and day, that we might not put pressure on any of you:
Not because we did not have the right to this, but in order to present ourselves as a model, so that you could imitate us.

For while we were there with you, we gave you this instruction, that if anyone does not want to work, then he should not eat either.

For we hear that there are some who are conducting their lives among you in a way that is out of order, not carrying out their own business, but busy interfering in other people's business.
Now people like that we command and urge through our Lord Jesus Christ, that they should be quietly carrying out their own jobs, and should be eating their own food.
But you, brothers and sisters, do not become weary in doing what is right.
And if anyone does not obey our word by this epistle, make a note of that person, and do not keep company with them, that they may be ashamed.

Yet do not consider them as an enemy, but give them counsel as a fellow believer.
Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord [be] with every one of you.
The greeting of Paul with my own hand, which is the distinguishing mark in every epistle: this is how I write.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all. Amen. <[The second [epistle] to the Thessalonians was written from Athens.]>
