Bible Text  (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]

1 Now we urge you, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our assembling together before him,
2 That you are not easily disturbed in mind [nous], or troubled, either by a [word through the] spirit, or by a word [preached], or by a letter as from us, as though the day of Christ has already come.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for [that day will not come], except there comes a falling away first, and that man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you, I told you these things?
6 And now you know what is restraining him until he is revealed in his [kairos] time.
- KAIROS - TIME
7 For the mystery of iniquity is already working: but the one who restrains will do so until he arises out of [our] midst.
8 And then will that Wicked one be unveiled, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of his mouth, and will destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9 [Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deception of unrighteousness in those that perish; because they did not receive the [agape] love of the truth, that they might be saved.
- AGAPE - DIVINE LOVE
11 And for this cause God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be condemned who did not believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brothers beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
- PREDESTINATION AND ELECTION
14 To which he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brothers, persevere and continue to hang onto the principles which you have been taught, whether through the Word, or by means of our letter.
- ARCHETYPE
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, who is also our Father, who has loved us, and has given us eternal comfort and good hope with grace [unmerited favor],
- HOPE
17 Comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.
