Bible Text (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]
Now I Paul myself beg you by the gentleness and fairness of Christ, who when I am in your presence [am] humble among you, but being away from you am bold toward you:
But I beg [you], do not force me to be bold when I am with you with the confidence that I have when I need to be bold against some of you, who view us as if we are walking under the influence of the flesh.
For though we conduct our lives in the flesh, we do not go to war under the influence of the flesh:
(For the weapons of our warfare [are] not fleshly, but mighty through God to the pulling down of fortresses;)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
Do you look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he [is] Christ's, even so [are] we Christ's.
And if I end up boasting more than I should about our authority, which the Lord granted us for the purpose of building you up and not breaking you down, I will not be ashamed about it:
That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.
They say that [his] letters [are] stern and forceful; but [his] physical presence [is] feeble, and [his] speaking is pathetic.
Such people should realize that what we are in our words via letters when we are absent, we will also be in action when we are present.
For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
But we will not boast of things without [our] measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God has distributed to us, a measure to reach even to you.
For we stretch not ourselves beyond [our measure], as though we reached not to you: for we are come as far as to you also in [preaching] the gospel of Christ:
Not boasting of things beyond [our] measure, [that is], of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we will be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,

To preach the gospel in the [regions] beyond you, [and] not to boast in somebody else's realm of ministry that is available to us.
But he that boasts, let him boast in the Lord.
For not he that commends himself is approved [dokimazo], but whom the Lord commends. - DOKIMAZO - TEST
