Bible Text (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]
Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman.
Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
Let the husband give to the wife due consideration: and likewise also the wife to her husband.
The wife does not have [sole] authority over her own body, but her husband [does also]: and likewise also the husband does not have [sole] authority over his own body, but his wife [does also].
Do not deprive one another, unless [it is] by mutual agreement for a specific [kairos] time, that you may commit yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, so that Satan does not tempt you through your lack of self control.

But I mention this as a suggestion, [and] not as a commandment.
For I would [prefer] that all men were just like me. But every man has his correct gift from God, one like this, and another like that.
I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they remain even as I am.
But if they cannot control themselves, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn [with desire].
And to the married I command, [yet] not I, but the Lord, Let the wife not leave [her] husband:
But if she leaves, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to [her] husband: and let the husband not divorce [his] wife.
But to the rest I speak, not the Lord: If any brother has a wife that is not a believer, and she is happy to live with him, let him not divorce her.
And the woman who has a husband that is not a believer, if he is happy to live with her, let her not leave him.
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: otherwise your children would be unclean; but now are they holy.
But if the unbeliever departs, let him leave. A brother or a sister is not bound in such [cases]: but God has called us to peace.
For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save [your] husband? or how do you know, O man, whether you will save [your] wife?
But as God has distributed to every man, as the Lord has called every one, so let him walk. And so I have ruled in all the churches.
Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.
Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God [is what counts].
Let every man remain in the same calling in which he was called.
Are you called [being] a servant? Don't worry about it: but if you can be made free, use [it] rather.
For he that is called in the Lord, [being] a servant, is the Lord's free man: likewise also he that is called, [being] free, is Christ's servant.
You have been bought with a price; do not be the servants of men.
Brethren, let every man, in that which he is called, remain with God.
Now concerning virgins I have no commandment from the Lord: yet I give my opinion, as one that has obtained mercy from the Lord to be faithful.
I assume therefore that this is good in view of the present distress, [I say], that [it is] good for a man to be like this.
Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be separated. Are you separated from a wife? Do not look for a wife.
But if you marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Nevertheless such people will have problems in the flesh: but I spare you.
But this I say, brothers, the [kairos] time [is] short: it remains, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;

And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;
And those that make use of this world, do not use it fully: for the world's way of doing things is passing away.
However I want you to be free of care. A single man continues to care about the things of the Lord; how he will please the Lord:
But a married man is concerned about the things of the world; how he will please his wife.
There is also a difference between a wife and a single woman. The single woman continues to care about the things of the Lord, that she may be set apart in both body and spirit: but a married woman cares about worldly things, how she will please her husband.
And this I speak for your own benefit; not that I might cast a snare upon you, but for that which is advisable, and that you may give your attention to the Lord without distraction.
But if any man thinks that he is behaving himself unsuitably toward his virgin, if she passes the prime of [her] youth, and it is necessary, let him do whatever he wants, he does not sin: let them marry.
Nevertheless he that remains steadfast in his heart, not being under obligation, but has control of his own will, and has so decided in his heart that he will keep his virgin, does well.
So then he that gives [her] in marriage does well; but he that does not give [her] in marriage does better.
The wife is bound by the law as [chronos] long as her husband lives; but if her husband is dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

But she is happier if she so remains, in my opinion: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.
