Bible Text (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]
So on the arrival of the day of Pentecost, they were all still flowing together in the same perfect harmony.
When suddenly there was a loud noise from heaven like the gushing of a mighty wind, that filled the whole house where they were staying.
- WIND OF GOD
- WIND OF GOD
And there appeared to them separated tongues looking like fire and settling on each one of them.
- TONGUES
- TONGUES
So that they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with different languages, just as the Spirit was giving them the words to say.
- FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT
- FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT
And there were living in Jerusalem Jews, religious men, from every nation under heaven.
So when they heard the noise, the crowd that gathered were stirred, because each one heard them speaking his own language.
They were all amazed and impressed, saying to one another, Look, aren't these people who are speaking Galilaeans?
So how can we each be hearing our own language, which we were born in?
Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those living in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the sections of Libya about Cyrene, and resident aliens of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
Cretes and Arabians, we can hear them speaking in our languages these awesome things from God.
And they were all amazed and confused, saying to one another, What is the reason for this?
Others mocking said, It is because they are full of fresh wine.
But Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice, and spoke on their behalf, Jewish men, and all of you who are living in Jerusalem, let it be known to you, as you listen to what I have to say:
- RHEMA - WORD
- RHEMA - WORD
That these people are not drunk, like you think, since it is only nine o' clock in the morning.
No, this is what was being said by the prophet Joel;
And it will occur in the End Times, says God, that I will pour out from my Spirit onto every kind of person: and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young people will see visions, and your seniors will have dreams:
And upon my male servants and upon my female servants I will pour out during that time from my Spirit; and they will prophesy:
And I will grant miracles in heaven above, and miraculous signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapours of smoke:
The sun will be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before that great shining day of the Lord can come:
And it will be, that whoever appeals to the name of the Lord will be saved.
You men of Israel, listen to these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved to you by God through mighty miracles and signs, which God produced through him amongst you, as you yourselves know:
Who was handed over by the predetermined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by illegal means have crucified and killed:
Whom God has raised up, having removed the pangs of death: because it was not possible that he should be held by it.
For David speaks concerning him, I saw in advance the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; what is more my flesh also will rest in hope:
- HOPE
- HOPE
Because you will not leave my soul in hell, neither will you permit your Holy One to see corruption.
You gave me a complete revelation of the way to obtain a full life. You will fill me up completely with joy, along with a face to face revelation of yourself.
Men [and] brothers, let me freely speak to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
He seeing this before spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither did his flesh see corruption.
This Jesus, God has raised up, of which we all are witnesses.
Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has shed forth this, which you now see and hear.
For David has not ascended into the heavens: but he says himself, The LORD [Yahweh] said to my Lord, You sit on my right hand,
Until I make your foes your footstool.
Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Now when they heard [this], they were pricked in their heart, and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men [and] brothers, what will we do?
Then Peter said to them, Repent, [ change your thinking] and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you will take hold of the gift of the Holy Spirit.
For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God will call.
And with many other words he testified and exhorted, saying, Save yourselves from this warped generation.
Therefore those that gladly received his word were baptized: and that very day their number was increased by about three thousand people.
And they were continually studying the apostles' teachings, interacting spiritually together, eating meals together, and having times of prayer
And fear came upon every person: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
And all those that believed were together, and had all things in common;
And sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to everyone, as every person had need.
And they continued to unite together daily in the temple and had meals in the homes, eating their food with great joy and unity of heart,
Continually praising God, and having favor with every person. And the Lord grew the church daily with the addition of new people who were being saved.
