Bible Text  (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]  [Read Bible Only]

1 Jesus went to the mount of Olives.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought to him a woman caught in adultery; and when they had set her in the middle,
- ADULTERY
4 They said to him, Master, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act.
Where was the man? Why did they let him go?
- ADULTERY

5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such [a person] should be stoned: but what do you say?
6 This they said, testing him, that they might have [cause] to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with [his] finger wrote on the ground, [as though He did not hear them].
Someone has suggested that Jesus wrote on the ground some of the sins they had comitted

7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up, and said to them, He that is without sin among you, let him [be the] first [one to] cast a stone at her.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 And those that heard [it], being convicted by [their own] conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, [right] until the last: and Jesus was left alone, with the woman standing in the middle.
10 When Jesus had raised Himself up, and saw no one but the woman, he said to her, Woman, where are those accusers of yours? has no one condemned you?
11 She said, Nobody, Lord. And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more.
12 Then Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of [zoe] life.
13 The Pharisees therefore said to him, You bear witness concerning yourself; your testimony is not true.
14 Jesus answered and said to them, Though I bear witness concerning myself, [yet] my testimony is true: for I know where I came from , and where I am going; but you cannot tell where I come from, and where I am going.
15 You judge according to the flesh; I judge no man.
16 And yet if I [do] judge, my judgement is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
18 I am one that bears witness concerning myself, and the Father that sent me bears witness concerning me.
19 Then they said to him, Where is your Father? Jesus answered, You do not know me, nor my Father: if you had known me, you should have known my Father also.
20 These [rhema] words Jesus spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour had not yet come.
Jesus was protected until the time came for Him to face the things He suffered.
- RHEMA - WORD

21 Then Jesus said again to them, I am going away, and you will seek me, and will die in your sins: where I am going, you cannot come.
22 Then the Jews said, Will he kill himself? because he says, Where I am going, you cannot come.
23 And he said to them, You are from beneath; I am from above: you are of this world; I am not of this world.
24 I said therefore to you, that you will die in your sins: for if you do not believe that I am [he], you will die in your sins.
Unless we believe that Jesus is God, we cannot be saved.

25 Then they said to him, Who are you? And Jesus said to them, Exactly what I said to you from the start.
26 I have many things to say and to judge concerning you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things that I have heard from him.
27 They did not understand that he spoke to them about the Father.
28 Then Jesus said to them, When you have raised up the Son of man, then you will know that I am [he], and [that] I do nothing by myself; but as my Father has taught me, I speak these things.
Only in the cross did they finally find out who He really was.
- TEACHING OFFICE

29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father has not left me alone; for I always do those things that please him.
30 As he spoke these words, many believed in him.
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, If you hang onto my word, then you really are My disciples;
32 And you will come to know the truth [real thing], and that truth [ or reality] will set you free.
Knowledge of the truth of God's Word brings freedom and liberty.

33 They answered him, We are Abraham's offspring, and were never in bondage to anyone: how can you say, You will be made free?
34 Jesus answered them, let me tell you something, Whoever is in the habit of committing sin is the slave of sin.
35 And the slave does not stay at home for ever: but the Son stays forever.
36 Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you will really be free.
37 I know that you are Abraham's descendants; but you seeking to kill me, because my word has no resting place in you.
38 I speak what I have seen in the presence of my Father: and you do what you have seen in the presence of your father.
39 They answered and said to him, Abraham is our father. Jesus said to them, If you were Abraham's children, you would do what Abraham did.
40 But now you seek to kill me, a man that has told you the truth, which I have heard from God: this Abraham did not do.
41 You are doing what your father did. Then they said to him, We were not born as a result of fornication; we have one Father; God.
42 Jesus said to them, If God were your Father, you would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; I did not even come of my own accord, but he sent me.
- TRINITY
43 Do you know why you cannot understand what I am saying? Because you are incapable of hearing my word.
44 You are from your father the devil, and the cravings of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not remain in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature: for he is a liar, and the originator of it.
Satan cannot tell the truth, whereas Jesus is pure truth.
- LIES - TRUTH

45 And because I tell you the truth, you do not believe me.
46 Which of you convicts me of sin? And since I am speaking the truth, why do you not believe me?
47 He that is of God hears God's [rhema] words: you therefore do not hear [them], because you are not of God.
- RHEMA - WORD
48 Then the Jews answered, and said to him, Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan, and [you] have a demon?
49 Jesus answered, I do not have a demon; but I honor my Father, and you are dishonoring me.
50 And I do not seek my own glory: there is one that seeks and judges.
51 Most assuredly, I say to you, If anyone keeps my word, he will never [double negative] see death.
There is power for life in God's words. If you want to experience more of God, then hold fast to His Word.

52 Then the Jews said to him, Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and you say, If a man keeps my word, he will never [double negative] taste of death.
53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? even the prophets are dead: who are your making yourself out to be?
54 Jesus answered, If I honor myself, my honor is nothing: it is my Father that honors me; of whom you say, that he is your God:
55 Yet you have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I do not know him, I would be a liar just like you: but I know him, and keep His word.
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw [it], and was glad.
57 Then the Jews said to him, You are not yet fifty years old, and you have seen Abraham?
58 Jesus said to them, Most assuredly, I say to you, Before Abraham existed, I am.
Jesus is God - the eternal existent one, Jehovah in the flesh.

59 Then they picked up stones to throw at him: but Jesus hid himself, and left the temple, going through amongst them, and so escaped.
