Bible Text (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]  [Read Bible Only]
And he entered into a ship, and crossed over, and came to his own city.
And they brought to him a man who was paralysed, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said to the paralytic; Son, cheer up; your sins are forgiven you.
It was the faith of this man's friends that made the difference, not even his own faith.
Jesus dealt first with the root cause of all sickness - sin.

And some of the scribes said within themselves, This [man] is blaspheming.
And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Why do you think evil in your hearts?

For what is easier, to say, [Your] sins are forgiven you; or to say, Arise, and walk?
But so that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins, (he said to the paralysed man,) Arise, take up your bed, and go home.
We sometimes need to stand in the gap for someone else and speak God's forgiveness to them. Jesus was speaking here as a man and not as God.

And he arose, and went home.
But when the multitudes saw [it], they were amazed, and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.

And as Jesus left there, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said to him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.
And it came to pass, as Jesus sat eating in the house, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.
And when the Pharisees saw [it], they said to his disciples, Why does your Master eat with publicans and sinners?
But when Jesus heard [that], he said to them, Those that are well do not need a doctor, but those that are ill.
But you go and learn what [this] means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?
And Jesus said to them, Can the members of the bridal party mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and then they will fast.
No man attaches a piece of new cloth to an old garment, for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse.
Neither do men put new wine into old wineskins: otherwise the wineskins break, and the wine runs out, and the wineskins are destroyed: but they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.
While he was saying these things to them, a certain ruler came, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is already dead: but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.
And Jesus arose, and followed him, and [so did] his disciples.
And, a woman, who had suffered with a flow of blood for twelve years, came behind [him], and touched the hem of his garment:
For she said within herself, If I can just touch his garment, I will be healed.

But Jesus turned around, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has healed you. And the woman was healed from that moment.

And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the musicians and the people making a noise,
He said to them, Make way: for the girl is not dead, but is sleeping. And they laughed him to scorn.
But when the people had been removed, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the girl arose.

And the news of this was carried into all that region.
And when Jesus left there, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Son of David, have mercy on us.
And when he had come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus said to them, Do you believe that I am able to do this? They said to him, Yes, Lord.
Jesus did not ask if they believed God could heal them. He asked if they believed HE could do it. This is a necessary part of functioning in the healing mantle - people must believe that you are anointed.

Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith let it be to you.
And their eyes were opened; and Jesus strictly warned them, saying, See [that] no one knows [about it].
But they, when they had left, spread his fame into all that region.
As they went out, they brought to him a dumb man possessed by a demon.
And when the demon had been cast out, the dumb one spoke: and the multitudes were amazed, saying, Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.
But the Pharisees said, He casts out demons through the prince of the demons.
And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were weak, and were scattered everywhere, like sheep having no shepherd.

Then he said to his disciples, The harvest truly [is] great, but the labourers [are] few;
Pray therefore [to] the Lord of the harvest, that he will send out labourers into his harvest.
It is the Lord who calls and sends, not Man that chooses. Jesus did not make an appeal for those who wanted to be laborers, because He knew that only God could move on people to do this. Nobody was offering out of their own to do it.
