Bible Text  (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]  [Read Bible Only]

That same day Jesus went out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
And great crowds had gathered together for him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
This was a form of sound amplification since they did not have amplifiers in those days.

And he spoke many things to them in parables, saying, A sower went out to sow;
And when he sowed, some [seeds] fell at the roadside, and the birds came and ate them up:
Some fell on stony places, where there was not much earth: and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of earth:
And when the sun came up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up, and choked them:
But others fell into good ground, and produced fruit, some a hundred times, some sixty times, some thirty times.
[He] who has ears to hear, let him hear.
And the disciples came, and said to him, Why do you speak to them in parables?
He answered and said to them, Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.
For whoever has, to him will be given, and he will have greater abundance: but whoever has not, from him will be taken away even what he has.
Therefore I speak to them in parables: because they having sight do not see; and having hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.
And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, who said, Though hearing you will hear, and will not understand; and [though] seeing you will see, and will not recognise:
For these people's hearts have become hard, and [their] ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and should understand with [their] heart, and should return, and I should heal them.
But blessed [are] your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
For truly I say to you, That many prophets and righteous [men] have desired to see [those things] which you are seeing, and have not seen [them]; and to hear [those things] which you are hearing, and have not heard [them].
Listen therefore to the parable of the sower.
When any one hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand [it], then the wicked [one] comes, and removes that which was sown in his heart. This is he that received seed by the roadside.
But he that received the seed in stony places, is the same as he that hears the word, and joyfully receives it;
Yet he has no root in himself, but perseveres for a while: for when tribulation or persecution arise because of the word, immediately he is put off.
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that hears the word; and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.
But he that received seed into the good ground is he that hears the word, and understands [it]; who also bears fruit, and produces, some a hundred times, some sixty, some thirty.
Another parable he presented to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is similar to a man who sowed good seed in his field:
But while everyone slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
But when the blade had sprung up, and produced fruit, then the tares appeared also.
So the servants of the householder came and said to him, Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? where then do the tares come from?
He said to them, An enemy has done this. The servants said to him, Do you want us to go and gather them up then?
But he said, No; lest while you are gathering up the tares, you uproot also the wheat with them.
Let both grow together until the harvest: and at the [kairos] time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
- KAIROS - TIME
Another parable he presented to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is similar to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the great among herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches of it.
Another parable he spoke to them; The kingdom of heaven is similar to yeast, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, until the whole was permeated by the yeast.
All these things Jesus spoke to the crowd in parables; and he did not speak to them without a parable:
That it might be fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things that have been kept secret since the foundation of the world.
Then Jesus sent the crowd away, and went into the house: and his disciples came to him, saying, Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.
He answered and said to them, He that sows the good seed is the Son of man;
The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked [one];
The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
As the tares are therefore gathered and burned in the fire; so it will be at the end of this age.
The Son of man will send forth his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all things that cause a stumblingblock, and those that are wicked;
And will cast them into a furnace of fire: there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Then the righteous will shine forth like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. [He] who has ears to hear, let him hear.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is similar to treasure hidden in a field; which when a man has found, he hides, and because of the joy it brings goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is similar to a businessman, looking for beautiful pearls:
Who, when he had found one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is similar to a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered a mixed assortment:
Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good [ones] into containers, but threw the bad [ones] away.
So will it be at the end of the age: the angels will come forth, and separate the wicked from the righteous,

And will cast them into the furnace of fire: there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Jesus said to them, Have you understood all these things? They said to him, Yes, Lord.
Then he said to them, Therefore every teacher [or writer] [who is] trained for the kingdom of heaven is similar to a man [that is] a homeowner, who gives out from that which he has accumulated new and old [things].
A teacher accumulates knowledge and experience, and can then draw from that resource to teach others.

And it came to pass, [that] when Jesus had finished these parables, he left there.
And when he had come into his home town, he taught them in their synagogue, so that that they were astonished, and said, From where does this man get this wisdom, and [these] miracles?
Is this not the carpenter's son? is not his mother named Mary? and his brothers, James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas?
And his sisters, are they not all with us? From where then does this [man] get all these things?
And they were offended at him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own home.
And he did not perform many miracles there because of their unbelief.
It is important that people hold you in high regard before the power of healing and miracles will work.
