Bible Text  (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]  [Read Bible Only]

1 At that [kairos] time Jesus went on the Sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were hungry, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
- KAIROS - TIME
2 But when the Pharisees saw [it], they said to him, Behold, your disciples do that which it is not lawful to do on the Sabbath day.
3 But he said to them, Have you not read what David did, when he was hungry, and those that were with him;
4 How he entered into the house of God, and ate the showbread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests?
5 Or have you not read in the law, how that on the Sabbath days the priests in the temple violate the Sabbath, and are innocent?
6 But I say to you, That in this place [there] is [one] greater than the temple.
7 But if you had known what [this] means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the innocent.
8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.
9 And when he had left there, he went into their synagogue:
10 And, behold, there was a man which had [his] hand deformed. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
11 And he said to them, What person would there be among you, that would have one sheep, and if it fell into a pit on the Sabbath day, would he not take hold of it, and lift [it] out?
12 How much better then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath days.
13 Then he said to the man, Stretch out your hand. And he stretched [it] out; and it was restored whole, just like the other.
- HEALING - COMMAND
14 Then the Pharisees went out, and plotted against him, how they might destroy him.
15 But when Jesus knew [it], he withdrew himself from there: and great crowds followed him, and he healed them all;
There were never any exceptions where healing was concerned. If someone was sick, they were healed.

16 And warned them that they should not make him known:
17 That it might be fulfilled what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying,
18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he will declare justice to the nations.
19 He will not get into arguments, or cause an outcry; his voice will not be heard in public.
20 He will not smash a crushed reed, or put out a smouldering wick, until he has brought forth justice [leading] to victory.
21 And in his name will the Gentiles [put their] trust.
22 Then [there] was brought to him one [that was] possessed by a demon, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, so that the blind and dumb [person] both spoke and saw.
- SPIRITS OF INFIRMITY
23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is this not the son of David?
24 But when the Pharisees heard [it], they said, This [fellow] does not cast out demons, except through Beelzebub the prince of the demons.
25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and every city or house divided against itself will not stand:
26 And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then can his kingdom stand?
27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast [them] out? Therefore they will be your judges.
28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you.
Everything is done by the power of the Holy Spirit. Even though it takes authority to command demons, it takes spiritual power to remove them.
- SPIRIT OF GOD

29 How else can one enter into a strong man's house, and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? and then he will plunder his house.
30 He that is not with me is against me, and he that does not gather with me scatters everywhere.
31 Therefore I say to you, All kinds of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven of men: but the blasphemy [against] the [Holy] Spirit will not be forgiven of men.
32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him: but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, not in this world, nor in the [age] to come.
Here Jesus is comparing His humanity with His deity. As man, He was the Son of man, but as God, He was the Holy Spirit incarnate.

33 Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by [its] fruit.
34 O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? for out of the surplus of the heart the mouth speaks.
35 A good man out of the good things deposited in his heart brings out good things: and an evil man out of the evil things deposited brings out evil things.
What we have deposited in our hearts starts to come out, largely through our mouths.

36 But I say to you, That every inactive [rhema] word that men will speak, they will give account for it on the day of judgement.
Our words carry power and have an effect, either positive or negative. At the end of the day the things that we say determined the kind of lives we live.
- RHEMA - WORD

37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
38 Then some of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.
39 But he answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and no sign will be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah:
40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the abdomen of the huge fish; so will the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41 The men of Nineveh will rise [up] in judgement against this generation, and will condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, behold, a greater [one] than Jonah [is] here.
42 The queen of the south will rise up in the judgment against this generation, and will condemn it: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; but look, a greater [one] than Solomon [is] here.
43 When an unclean spirit has gone out of a person, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.
44 Then he says, I will go back into the house from which I came; and when he arrives, he finds [it] empty, swept, and decorated.
45 Then he goes, and gathers to himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and live there: and the last [state] of that man is worse than the first. Even so it will be also for this wicked generation.
This refers to an unbeliever who has experienced deliverance from demons, but have not accepted the Holy Spirit to. come and live in them through Christ.

46 While he was still talking to the people, [his] mother and his brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him.
47 Then someone said to him, Behold, your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.
48 But he answered and said to the one that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brothers?
49 And he stretched out his hand towards his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brothers!
Blood family should have no preference in the spiritual realm. Those who follow the Lord should always be given priority.

50 For whoever will do the will of my Father who is in heaven, that person is my brother, and sister, and mother.
