1 My son, do not forget my law; but let your heart guard my commandments:
2 For they will increase your lifespan, and you will live for a long time in a state of prosperity and contentment.
3 Hold on tight to kindness and integrity so that they do not leave you: tie them around your neck; engrave them on stone tablets in your inward man:
5 Trust, cling to and rely on the LORD [Yahweh] with all that is within you; and do not rely on your own inner discernment.
6 Get to know Him fully in every aspect of your journey through life, and he will make your road straight and smooth.
7 Do not see yourself as being wise: respect the LORD [Yahweh], and turn away from evil.
8 It will become a source of healing to your umbilical cord (the source of your strength), and a refreshment to your (dry) bones (the inner self or real you).
9 Glorify the LORD [Yahweh] with your wealth, and with the best part of your profits:
10 So your storehouses will be filled with an abundance, and your wine vats will overflow with new wine.
11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD [Yahweh]; neither be weary of his correction:
12 For whom the LORD [Yahweh] loves he corrects; just as a father the son [in whom] he delights.
14 For the merchandise of it [is] better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain of it than fine gold.
15 She [is] more precious than rubies: and all the things you can desire are not to be compared to her.
16 Length of days [is] in her right hand; [and] in her left hand riches and honor.
17 Her ways [are] ways of pleasantness, and all her paths [are] peace.
18 She [is] a tree of life to those that lay hold upon her: and happy [is every one] that retains her.
19 The LORD [Yahweh] by wisdom has founded the earth; by understanding has he established the heavens.
20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
21 My son, let them not depart from your eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
22 So will they be life to your soul, and grace to your neck.
Wisdom and discretion bring life to the soul - your emotions and personality. The neck often holds jewelry for display. So these things also make you more visible and attractive to the eye.

23 Then you will walk in your way safely, and your foot will not stumble.
24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid: yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet.

25 Do not be afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes.
26 For the LORD [Yahweh] will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being taken.
27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do [so].
28 Do not say to your neighbor, Go, and come again, and tomorrow I will give; when you have it with you.
29 Do not devise evil against your neighbor, seeing as he dwells securely by you.
30 Do not strive with a man without cause, if he has done you no harm.
31 Do not envy the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.
32 For the perverted person [is] an abomination to the LORD [Yahweh]: but His secret [is] with the righteous.
33 The curse of the LORD [Yahweh] [is] in the house of the wicked: but he blesses the habitation of the just.
34 Surely he scorns the scorners: but he gives grace to the lowly.
35 The wise will inherit glory: but shame will be the promotion of fools.
