Bible Text  (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]

1 Wine [is] a boaster, strong drink [is] a trouble maker: and whoever is deceived by them is not wise.
2 The fear of a king [is] as the roaring of a lion: [whoever] provokes him to anger sins [against] his own soul.
3 [It is] a honor for a man to stop fighting: but any fool can start a quarrel.
- STRIFE
4 The sluggard will not plough because of the cold; [therefore] he will beg in the harvest, and [have] nothing.
- LAZINESS - POVERTY
5 Counsel in the heart of a man [is like] deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.
- JOURNALING
6 Most people advertise their own kindness, but who can find someone who is trustworthy?
- SELFISHNESS
7 The just [man] walks in his integrity: his children [are] blessed after him.
- BLESSING - GENERATIONAL
8 A king that sits on the throne of judgement scatters away all evil with his eyes.
9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
- SIN IN THE HEART
10 Different weights, [and] different measures, both of them [are] alike an abomination to the LORD [Yahweh].
- BUSINESS - UNGODLY
11 Even a child is known by his actions, whether his work [is] pure, and whether [it is] right.
- ACTIONS
12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD [Yahweh] has made both of them.
13 Do not love sleep, lest you come to poverty; open your eyes, [and] you will be satisfied with bread.
- LAZINESS
14 [It is] worthless, [it is] worthless, says the buyer: but when he has gone his way, then he boasts.
- BUYING AND SELLING
15 There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge [are] a precious jewel.
16 Take the garment of one that is surety [for] a stranger: and take a pledge from him for a strange woman.
17 Bread [obtained] through deception [is] sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth will be filled with gravel.
- FRAUD
18 [Every] purpose is established through counsel: and with good advice make war.
- COUNSEL - FROM OTHERS
19 He that goes around [as] a talebearer reveals secrets: therefore do not associate with him that flatters with his lips.
- GOSSIP
20 Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp will be put out in obscure darkness.
- PARENTS - HONOUR
21 An inheritance [may be] obtained hastily at the beginning; but it will not be blessed at the end.
- RICHES - DECEITFULNESS
22 You must not say, I will repay evil; [but] wait on the LORD [Yahweh], and he will save you.
- REVENGE
23 Different weights [are] an abomination to the LORD [Yahweh]; and a false balance [is] not good.
- BUSINESS - UNGODLY
24 Man's directions [are] of the LORD [Yahweh]; how can a man then understand his own way?
- SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD
25 [It is] a trap for a man to dedicate something rashly, and then consider the consequences afterwards.
26 A wise king scatters the wicked, and brings the [threshing] wheel over them.
27 The spirit of man [is] the candle of the LORD [Yahweh], searching all the rooms of the inward man.
- BIRTHING - SPIRITUAL - REVELATION - INWARD - SPIRIT OF MAN
28 Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upheld by mercy.
29 The glory of young men [is] their strength: and the beauty of old men [is] the grey head.
- OLD AGE
30 In the same way that a bruise purges away infection, blows given on the outside help to clean up the inward man. - DEALINGS OF GOD - DEATH - LEG BREAKING
