Bible Text  (Scroll to Verse)  [Copy]

And when all the Amorite kings, on the west side of Jordan, and all the Canaanite kings by the sea, heard that the LORD [Yahweh] had dried up the waters of Jordan in front of the Israelites, until we had crossed over, they were discouraged and demoralized, in the presence of the Israelites.
This was when God told Joshua, 'Make some knives of stone and carry out another circumcision on the Israelites.'
So Joshua made stone knives, and circumcised the Israelites at the 'Mount of Foreskins.'
The reason why Joshua did this circumcision was that all the Israelite males who were old enough to fight, had died in the wilderness along the way, after they came out of Egypt.
And although all of those who came out were circumcised, : the ones who were born in the wilderness along the way after they came out of Egypt, had not been circumcised.
This is because the Israelites had wandered for forty years in the wilderness, until all those who were old enough to fight when they left Egypt, had faded away, because they did not obey the voice of the LORD [Yahweh]. The LORD [Yahweh] swore that he would not show them the land, which he had promised on oath to their fathers, that he would give to us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
So Joshua circumcised their sons, whom God had raised up in their place, since they were not yet circumcised, because none had been circumcised along the way.
And when they had finished circumcising all the people, they stayed at their places in the camp, until they were healed.
Then the LORD [Yahweh] said to Joshua, On this day I have rolled the disgrace of Egypt away from you. Therefore the name of the place is called Gilgal to this day.
The Israelites while camping at Gilgal, celebrated the passover in the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, on the plains of Jericho.
And they ate of the produce of the land the next day after the passover, unleavened bread baked that very day.
And the manna stopped the next day after they had eaten of the produce of the land; the Israelites no longer had manna; but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

As Joshua drew closer to Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with his sword drawn in his hand: so Joshua went up to him, and said to him, 'Are you a friend or foe?'
He replied, 'Neither; I have come as the commander in chief of the army of the LORD [Yahweh].' Joshua fell with his face to the ground, bowed down in reverence, and said to him, What does my lord have to say to his servant?
And the commander of the LORD [Yahweh]'S army said to Joshua, Remove your shoes from your feet; because the spot you are standing on is holy ground. So Joshua did so.
