And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.
And it will be on the day when you will pass over Jordan to the land which the LORD [Yahweh] your God gives you, that you will set you up great stones, and plaister them with plaister:
And you will write upon them all the words of this law, when you are passed over, that you may go in to the land which the LORD [Yahweh] your God gives you, a land that flows with milk and honey; as the LORD [Yahweh] God of your fathers has promised you.
Therefore it will be when you be gone over Jordan, [that] you will set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and you will plaister them with plaister.
And there will you build an altar to the LORD [Yahweh] your God, an altar of stones: you will not lift up [any] iron [tool] upon them.
You will build the altar of the LORD [Yahweh] your God of whole stones: and you will offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD [Yahweh] your God:
And you will offer peace offerings, and will eat there, and rejoice before the LORD [Yahweh] your God.
And you will write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.
And Moses and the priests, the Levites, spoke to all Israel, saying, Take heed, and listen, O Israel; this day you have become the people of the LORD [Yahweh] your God.
You will therefore obey the voice of the LORD [Yahweh] your God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command you this day.
And Moses charged the people the same day, saying,
These will stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when you are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:
And these will stand upon mount Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
And the Levites will speak, and say to all the men of Israel with a loud voice,
Cursed [be] the man that makes [any] graven or molten image, an abomination to the LORD [Yahweh], the work of the hands of the craftsman, and puts [it] in [a] secret [place]. And all the people will answer and say, Amen.
