BibleText:
1 The elder to the well loved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. 2 Beloved, I want you to continually be made to prosper in all things and to be continually in good health, just as your soul is continually being made to prosper. 3 For I rejoiced greatly, when the brothers came and testified of the truth that is in you, since you are walking in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in truth. 5 Beloved, you are faithful in doing the things you do to the brothers, and to strangers; 6 Who have borne witness of your [agape] love before the church: whom if you promote on their journey in a godly way, you will do well: 7 Because on behalf of his name they went out, taking nothing from the Gentiles. 8 We therefore ought to receive such [people], that we might be co-workers of the truth. 9 I wrote to the church: but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us. 10 Therefore, if I come, I will remember the things that he does, criticising us with malicious words: and not content with that, he himself will not receive the brothers either, and forbids those that want to, and casts [them] out of the church. 11 Beloved, do not imitate that which is evil, but that which is good. He who does [what is] good is of God: but he who does [what is] evil has not seen God. 12 Demetrius has a good reputation with everyone, and from the truth itself: yes, and we [also] are witnesses; and you know that our testimony is true. 13 I had many things to write, but I do not want to write to you with ink and pen: 14 But I trust I will shortly see you, and we will speak face to face. Peace [be] to you. [Our] friends salute you. Greet the friends by name.
